Once you’re done eating, store the rest of your fish in the fridge at 40°F or less. This is to avoid leaving the fish at room temperature, which can spoil it. 

Ideally, you can store fish in a sealed container for two to three days. 

However, if you won’t reheat it soon, place it in the freezer. It’s safe to freeze it for up to one month.

Either way, mark your containers with the freezing or storing date.

This way, you know when it’s okay to use and ensure preserving its flavor, as well!

To maintain the fresh texture of your halibut fish, try to gently heat it using moist heat. 


If you heat it too high, up to 135 °F, it’ll lose its tenderness.

Here are the steps for reheating breaded fish safely:

  1. Set the oven to 375 °F
  2. Put the leftover breaded fish in a lightly oiled pan
  3. Use kitchen paper towels to dry any excess moisture
  4. Bake until the coating gets crisp

This may take around 15 minutes, give or take. Turning the fish on both sides will improve heating results.

In order to heat leftover unbreaded fish:

  1. Set the oven to 375 °F
  2. Arrange the unbreaded fish on aluminum foil
  3. Sprinkle melted butter over the fish
