Smokin-It Model #1 Electric Smoker Review

For a large amount of people, meats are best served smoked. Actually accomplishing that without spending a fortune or taking up a lot of space on your patio isn’t always easy, though. It can be an incredibly messy ordeal. That is where the Smokin-It Model #1 Electric Smoker comes into play, though, and makes it easier than ever to have the best smoked meats of your life without having to make a single sacrifice.

There is a problem or two that most people face when they start looking at a smoker for their home, or even for their small restaurant. The ability to smoke your meats shouldn’t be something that is cost prohibitive or space prohibitive, but that is the unfortunate case with a lot of the other units out there. Many of them end up weighing upwards of 500-1000 pounds and are permanent installations, rather than something that you can use when you need it only. That also means that you will have to make room for the incredibly large unit that may or may not be able to have enough space inside of your home. Trying to find the space for a humongous smoker isn’t something that anyone wants to have to handle.

This is truly a one of a kind unit. Smokin-It has a reputation for building some of the best smokers that you will find anywhere, so why not take advantage of that trust? This is a large investment for a lot of people, there is no room for compromise and no room for going with something that you are unsure about. This is one of the most highly praised electric smokers that the market has ever seen and it is one that works great every single time that you use it.

What We Like

There are a lot of reasons to think that this is one of the best models out there, but in particular you should be thinking about these:

The Value

If a smoker is not cheap, that doesn’t mean you are going to get a lot of value for the money. Not this one. The stainless steel racks that are used are incredibly durable and sure to last you for years. In fact, the overall construction of these smokers are unbeatable. They aren’t going to turn into a rust bucket anytime son and you can bet that they’ll make it through all of the cookouts you can throw at it. The price might even seem high to some people, but for what you get this is one of the best values on the market today. Just take a look at the competition and see for yourself.

The Size

This is seriously one of the most spacious electric smokers you’ll see anywhere. In total, there are 2911 cubic inches of cooking space inside. That means you can easily cook up to 22 pounds of meat without having to every worry about running out of space inside. With its efficient use of that space, however, you also can rest easy knowing that you’ll never have to worry about it taking up a great deal of space and putting you out of house and home.

The Power

This 120 volt, 8 amp unit powering this smoker is among the best in the business. From 100 to 250 degrees is no problem here and there is no reason to think that you won’t be able to smoke almost any meat you can throw at this machine.

The Construction

The construction of this smoker is something that certainly cannot be denied. We touched on it a little bit above, but it is well worth taking an in depth look at, especially when it is something that is this high quality. Measuring 20.4 inches high, 15 inches deep, and 19 inches wide, this is a great size for most people to have at their home. All of that comes in the form of a heavy, 57 pound stainless steel smoker that is attached to 4 castors that make it easy to put it exactly where you want. One of the first things that people compliment it on is that it is “built like a tank.” That kind of heavy duty contraction is somehow accomplished without making it weigh a ton. Part of that is thanks to the fiberglass used as insulation. This material is going to make sure that you don’t lose any heat, making it much more efficient, but it also has the benefit of being lightweight compared to other forms of insulation.

The Limitations

There really are no downsides to the smoker, but if you want to nit pick there are a couple of things that you could look at:

Less Than Ideal Temperature Control

For some people, the temperature control leaves something to be desired. Finding the exact temperature for your meats based solely on the controls isn’t always possible, which can pose a problem if you are a perfectionist. Overall, though, this isn’t a major concern and it is something that a lot of people can easily overlook.

Space

The amount of space that is inside of this smoker is great for most people, but if you have an incredible amount of meat to smoke this might not be enough room. With the exception of restaurants, however, this 22 lbs at a time is more than enough for the vast majority of people who are going to be looking for a smoker to use on a regular basis.

The Verdict

This is by and large one of the best options that you are going to find in this price range. The Smokin-It Model #1 Electric Smoker does what a lot of other smokers can't do and that is remain powerful without having to be large, bulky, or require wood to fuel it. For an efficient and electrical way to smoke your meats, you have to check this out and at the very least give it a second look. You won’t regret it.
