REC TEC Wood Pellet Grill – Featuring Smart Grill TechnologyTM Review

The REC TEC wood pellet grill gives people the opportunity to cook food without having to worry about the negative issues that are usually associated with grilling; you can fire up the grill with the push of a button, and it quickly heats up to whatever temperature you have it set at. The grill uses technology to maintain a consistent temperature inside of the cooking chamber, so you can cook, sear, grill and bake your favorite foods without having to adjust for temperature changes. It uses real wood pellets to generate heat, so your food always has the authentic smoky flavor that only a real wood grill can offer.

When you use a REC TEC, you combine classic wood grilling and smoking with modern technology; the computer controlled temperature adjustment mechanism gives you precise control over how many pellets are used to heat the unit. When you cook with a REC TEC grill, you eliminate variable temperature fluctuations, so you can depend on it to consistently cook your favorite recipes every single time you grill.

The REC TEC combines versatility, quality and convenience into one powerful grill & smoker that is perfect for both amateur and professional chefs alike. It comes with a six-year warranty and excellent customer service, so you never have to worry about the unit breaking when you least expect it.

What We Like

Easy Assembly – The grill doesn't arrive at your home assembled, but most people manage to put it together in under an hour when using the easy to follow picture instructions. The customer service for this unit is excellent, so you can always call the manufacturer to discuss assembly questions. Assembly shouldn't be a problem, but it's nice to know that there are always people there ready to help you.

Quick Heating Time – When you light your grill, you don't have to wait a long time for it to get to the proper temperature. When it reaches your desired temperature, there's no fluctuation; the grill maintains its temperature perfectly during windy, cold and rainy conditions. Users can adjust the temperature in five degree increments, and the grill maxes out at 500 degrees.

Large Cooking Area
– The REC TEC gives you a lot of room to grill all of your favorite foods. The 19” x 34” grilling area gives you 680 square inches of cooking space, and you have nine inches of space above your food for large items; it's easy to fit a large turkey, ham or roast on your grill. The grill grates are solid 1/4 inch thick steel, so you never have to worry about them bending when you place a heavy cut of meat on them.

Minimal Pellet Use – The pellet hopper holds up to 40 pounds of pellets, so people assume that the unit goes through them quickly. This is not the case; most people find that a 20 pound bag of pellets will last longer than an equal amount of charcoal.

Easy To Use – After you put the grill together, you simply plug it in, fill it with pellets and start grilling with it. The grill turns on with the touch of a button; all you have to do is set the temperature and wait for it to warm up.

The unit shows you the temperature inside of the grilling chamber, so you always know exactly how hot it is. People love that they don't have to fiddle with matches, lighter fluid or gas when they light their REC TEC, and they never have to worry about the unit's temperature running hotter or colder than expected.

Easy To Maintain – The REC TEC grill is very easy to clean. The interior light has a lens that can be removed and washed in warm water, and it has a 12 gauge drip pan that catches all of your food drippings; if you cover the drip pan with aluminum foil, it makes cleanup a cinch.

The steel cooking grates are durable and easy to clean; you never have to worry about scratching them when cleaning or cooking. The exterior of the grill has a powder coated finish, and you can use a damp rag to keep it looking spotless. If you keep the grill covered when not in use, you'll never have problems with dirt, grime or rust.

The Limitations

The only problem that people have with this grill is its lack of ability to sear meat. The manufacturer sells a searing kit that you can buy online here, but it will cost you about 80 dollars. If you buy the kit, you place it on the right side of the grill, and it gives you plenty of room to sear all of your meat.

The REC TEC is a great unit for people who take grilling seriously. There are tons of other similar units on the market, but the REC TEC stands out because of its features, dependability and versatility. It's a great looking unit, and it comes with a six-year warranty that can't be beat.
